Heat Press FAQs
Using a heat press machine takes practice! The temperature needed to apply heat press labels depends on the type of item you are trying to label; thinner items need less time, thicker materials need more time.
We recommend starting your temperature at 310 for ten seconds and raising it 5-10 degrees until you are getting the adhesion that you are looking for.
If your temperature is too cool, the label will not adhere. If it's too hot, you can melt fabric.
Practice until you are confident with your time/temp combination.
- If labels are not sticking when temperature is near 325; more pressure is needed...not more heat! Do not use temperatures above 330.
- If more pressure is needed:
- Turn the Pressure Adjustment Knob.
- Use a Teflon heat press pillow. (photo below; available at crafting stores or Amazon.)
- Make sure seams are not hindering the application of the label.
